Lower jaw surgery???

Ok, so I went to my orthodontist on the 25th of feb and ive been waiting to wear braces for a long time.. since, 11 and now im 17. Ive been on the waiting list for a long time, and my dentist appointments come like every other year... ?
So, he went over the whole thing, and said i cn't wear braces unitl i have SURGERY! im really scared, and what if anything bad happens>?
So, i need lower jaw surgery to make my natural bite, and then i would be allowed to wear braces to straighten my teeth..

Does anyone have any suggestions? what shall i do? what is the straight thing to do...
