The Unsung Heroes

Whenever I see reports coming from Ukraine you always see the fire and rescue service working their butts off, in the thick of blistering infernos trying to put fires out and working on mountains of rubble trying to dig people out that are trapped, they never seem to get much recognition.
When you look at the heavy suits / protective gear that they need to wear they must themselves be made of steel.

They do get a lot of recognition internally.
And every morning in Ukraine at 7am there’s a minute’s silence for the fallen

That's good to hear then ich. The pressure must be hard to keep taking.

I’m astounded how quickly things like bridges round Kyiv have rebuilt.
And railway lines.
And the postal service UkrPoshta (now famed for its stamps!) has carried more or less as normal.
The word “hero” hardly does these people justice

The determination of these people is difficult to comprehend. I find it incredible to see people trying to put a makeshift roof back onto their bombed out house with destruction all around them.
How do they find the will to do this when everything seems impossible.

Because it’s home and often the only thing people have.
You see people refusing to be evacuated despite the obvious dangers and it’s why there’s been net immigration back to the country for many weeks in spite of all.
The govt is trying to get women and children to leave Kherson at the moment before the inevitable counter attack reaches the city proper. Even suggesting to go via Crimea into Russia.
Better than be used as a human shield.
When Kherson is liberated the atrocities uncovered there may make Bucha look like a picnic

I know they are fit young men but even so working in all that heavy gear must sap ones strength sooner or later.
