According to Sky News the heat 'has turned areas of Manchester into no-go areas'. Good grief.

"apolyptic"...new word you've invented to show your disgust?
It means 'when you can't wait for the full apocalypse'.
We've had these high temeperatures for just a few days. Back in 1976 it was in the mid-30's for months. I seem to remember 1959 being quite hot too; stand pipes and all that. Sensationalist and alarmist is what makes the makes the news. "We're all doomed!"
God clarion, oldham road at 30'C will stick in my memory.
this is named recall bias
er you remember things and badly
1976 was longer ( drought)but not as hot - I should know, I was taking finals then
1959 - yes - increds we were picking rasps in late April
and the farmer opposite the school ( now all built up) allowed us to eat our lunches in his hay field

and put simply as I am a simple man
it cant be a one only reading of 40'C yesterday
if it occurred twice before

it seems like that famous AB animal - it is hotter and not as hot at the same time. I call it a Naomi
Jusrt a reminder about what can, and can't, happen.

The temperature in the summer of 1976 was in the mid-30's for at least 2 months. Mrs Clarion was heavily pregnant at this time. Not the best weather to be "carrying". As she always reminds me. Bless her. :o)
PP ,why do you insist on name dropping Naomi when she’s not even here,, you do it lots and it’s not nice so please stop eh?
That's you told PP, a mod? not on the exposed list.
