In the days when I was duty supervisor at a railway station, I had to get up at around 0430 in order to arrive in time for the early shift at 0600. In never bothered with (nor, indeed, really had enough time for breakfast).
Once I got to work, part of my duties involved despatching the early morning commuter trains to London, where I had to stand right alongside the restaurant car of each train while everyone boarded and all of the safety checks were completed.
There was invariably the smell of bacon being cooked coming from every single one of those restaurant cars, which I had to endure each morning without ever getting the chance to eat any of it. It was pure mental torture!
