Ink Absorber Is Nearly Full

I am getting the message "Ink absorber is nearly full" in my Canon Pixma MG4250. Is it possible to fix this problem or does it only happen to Canon printers. The printer is not that old and its crazy to think i may have to get a new printer. If that is the case the waste dumps must be full of printers,
