My colleagues and I are centrally placed characters (A) ??T????
Throughout todays xword are (A) s (D)s must have something to do with down and across any ideas folks!
I am not familiar with this crossword. Is it possibly one where the answers have to be manipulated before entering in the grid? If so then the answer might be 'letters' and the (A) may have to replace the central letter so you enter 'letaers' in the grid. Just an idea, more of a guess really.
um think I get it! but maybe too much for my brain, they havent done that before, it would help if Id got more answers to see a pattern emerging many thanks
JulieWoolie -- there are several references in those A/D clues to central characters. It took a while for the penny to drop but the central vertical and horizontal squares read out cats and dogs. It still took a lot longer to work them all out though ! Especially 17dn -- I was looking for a specific breed for ages !
Hi JulieWoolie- you may have solved it by now.
If you take the 8th horizontal and vertical row and column (the squares that run into the central cross-shape) they read dogs and cats :
i.e. 9ac referenCe
12ac gAbionage
21ac lyricisTs
28ac eSurience
14dn aDverbial
3dn tormentOr
16dn aGitative
7dn euchariSt
Then work out the names of these into the lights that run around the perimeter
