There's a company in Cornwall who take people swimming with sharks. They attract the sharks with bloody entrails in the water.

Surely anyone who goes on these trips must be a potential Darwin Award candidate.

Indeed, one swimmer did get attacked - surprise surprise NOT.

But "experts" claim shark attacks are "extremely rare". Oh, so that'a all right then.

Would you take such a trip ? Not for me I'm afraid (literally).

I suppose they're right, there really aren't many attacks on humans. But no, I wouldnt Snorkel With Sharks - I'd be needing a bigger boat...

Probably not but I have been swimming with nurse sharks in the Exumas

I wouldn't take the risk of swimming with any animal in their environment.

However, I can't swim so that would exclude me from going.

A news snippet on Talktv said it was the first unprovoked shark attack since 1847. To my tiny mind, there's a lot to be pulled from that piece of nonsense :) Wouldn't be me swimming in any sea

You're almost getting it. No-one was badly injured. There was no shark attack. Someone had minor abrasive injuries and the company organising the trips was all over the news...

And the woman walked off the boat. For goodness sake, there was no 'shark attack'. I get more injuries from fishing for mackerel from Paignton Harbour.

My youngest son is with the Air ambulance / Flying doctors in Queensland Australia and has attended shark attacks, some survived but some died of their injuries.

They have a saying: "when man and sharks come into contact, there is always the chance of shark attack"

No I wouldn't try to prove that adage.

Paigntonian - this was posted in Chatterbank, it is an unusual story. It was a minor incident but merits being reported as a warning to others of a potential issue for future excursions.

Are you always so unpleasant, maybe you need a sense of humour and personality transplant.
