Unfair Iceland

Iceland the frozen food store is giving away £30 vouchers to pensioners. I don't qualify as I don't live in the areas of Lambeth or Croydon they deem as "poor areas" unfair or what?!? Some areas up north on the list. Do you qualify?

I saw that the other day. It seemed to be primarily in the North and Wales. Not here in the South West.

Who is eligible for the voucher?

Pension-age residents who are living independently, or with a carer, who rely solely on a state pension and benefits will be able to claim a £30 voucher for food and other essentials if they live in one of the 17 areas.

The Rothesay Foundation say more than 40,000 people will have the opportunity to claim a voucher.

Eligible pensioners should call the Summer Cheer hotline on 0800 098 7877 to request their voucher. The telephone line will be open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.//

If they rolled it out nationwide it would run into millions of people, rendering the scheme financially unworkable. Some you win, some you lose I guess.

Wirral! The average house price is £270k (according to Zoopla)!

dunno how they would check but it's only for those on basic state pension living alone (or with a carer)

They already have a 10% off Tuesday for anyone over 65...maybe extending that to more days would have been a better option. It means you pay whatever prices were before they started going up.
