which is the best laptop to buy?

i have been told by 2 different people now that the laptop Acer aspire 300 or something like that is the best laptop and excellent value, would you recommend this one?i dont want to spend more than �500 if i can help it. i only want to use it really for the internet, downloading music files, creating cds and scanning photos onto discs.any advice appreciated.

I would highly recommend Acer Laptops.I have owned several of them, and currently have an Acer Aspire 3614WLMI which I purchased from their website (see link) for abour �575 in January, but it is now being sold for just over �400.I paid the extra to double the RAM, but I still reckon this laptop is a real bargain.
