we also took all our own food eg bacon sausage eggs to cook breakfast in the morning as it was alot cheaper than eating in the restaurant
cant think of any other essentials that we needed.

Depends on the experience you want, we went with tent, 1 gas burner & bottle, 1 frying pan & kettle deciding to make tea & bacon sandwiches for breakfast then eat pub lunches/evening meals etc. But the people next to us, never even let us use our burner, they insisted on switching on the electric kettle! they had a microwave, bedside lamps, heater and when 7.30 came, we heard "der,de de de, der der" Yes coronation street, they had a Tv, a whole kitchen unit thing, wardrobes, shall I go on? To sum it up my teenage Son asked, why is everyone so organised, and we look like we've built a den? we had a great time.
Ive been twice witht he kids, the second time was a couple of weeks ago and it rained most of the time - all i took was chairs, tent, disposible bbq's food and drinks, clothes and washroom stuff. My friend however booked to have electric hook up and took her kettle etc. and she also took a gazebo which was good to sit under when it was raining and we even had a bbq under it as we had no choice really, the only sad thing was that during the night the wind got so bad it blew into a tree even though it was pegged down! luckily we were going home, i was that fed up taking tent down in the rain that i drove home in my pyjamas!! lol was good fun though!
Thankyou all sooo much for your answers. Why we are doing this , I dont know, must be a midsummer thing, but I have laughed a lot reading your responses .....It all started when we went to the Garden Centre for some bedding plants in the spring, and came away with a tent instead, as you do. then a kettle , then a cooker etc etc., ... now we are off next weekend and taking the G .kids with us as well. and the 3 dogs.... message to self , check ones mentality. thanks all happy camping
my personal email is [email protected] .... and no im not on speed, Whizz is my eldest dog and she rules the house (a Jack Russell ... what else do you expect) .please all stay in touch and I will let you all know how it went thanks for all your responses,,
Campsites and RV parks are full of required camping gear, but what are the most common items bought by families? The answer may surprise you. Many people think that a tent is the only necessary camping equipment, but this is not always the case. There are many other items that can be used in order to have a great camping experience. One such item is a sleeping bag, which can be very helpful when weather conditions are unfavorable. Additionally, a grill or stove can be useful for cooking food while on your camping trip. A good tent can keep you safe from both the elements and animals.
