Some of you may remember last year I was shocked and upset that my test showed I had retinal neuropathy, especially as my diabetes has been very well controlled by diet and exercise for some years.
My doctor told me there was nothing I could do except carry on as I was and get my eyes screened every year.

This year my test came back as clear, no signs of any neuropathy! I am over the moon but wish they hadn’t told me last year especially as there was no action I or the doctors could take.

I had no idea that this condition could rectify itself so if any of you get the result that I did last year remember there is hope.

Diabetic retinopathy is not reversible, but who cares barry, well done.

Thanks, Sqad. Maybe there was a dust mote on last year’s photos
-;)
That's confusing Barry, given what sqad says, and having gone for Retinopathy screening annually - I have background retinopathy - my BSL are normal like your own and I've never been told it is reversible
I hope your optimism is justified (in spite of Sqad's warning.).

My vision impairment (as a result of a TIA, or mini-stroke) is, I'm told, irreversible - but in view of this, perhaps - who knows. Then I could drive again, that's the bit which hurt most.

My optician and GP told me, maybe to stop me fretting.
My screening last year result : "some background retinopathy" in one eye.
This year's screening result : "no signs of diabetic eye disease This means you are at very little risk of sight-threatening retinopathy at this time "

I feel for you, Canary.
Thank you.

Very similar to my letters, Freya.
I was told at my eye screening in February that I too had the very beginnings of diabetic retinopathy. Very surprised as my blood sugars are well controlled and I’m pretty careful about what I eat.
I’m pleased for you Barry, I hope at my next screening I have a similar result :)

Fingers crossed, Vagus
I hope there is good news for all of you on future screenings. Boots Opticians told me that "background" retinopathy was superficial, whatever that means !
