Anyone shopped in Poundstretcher recently? My local store is full of price reductions, often half price. Trouble is the alleged original price is about double what other stores charge so are they simply at it?
Yes it is the same here. Windows plastered with posters saying everything half price but then once inside every item seems to have been doubled. Not falling for it anymore. Prefer B&M or Home Bargains who don't seem to play these games.
A few months back, my local Poundstretcher had 50% off absolutely everything for a few weeks, with no exceptions whatsoever. I found out too late to buy any cheap cat food, as it had all been cleared off the shelves by then, but I still got a couple of lovely cat beds (reduced from £12 to £6) and plenty of household stuff too. As I get in there quite often, and thus know their prices for many things, I could see that all of the reductions were totally genuine.
...and I've never seen/heard of Poundstretcher and would love a Home Bargains/B&M/Aldi/lidl - even a Wilko...but they're all at least a 30+minute drive away.
This type of shop have huge buying power and often ask manufacturers to supply their products in smaller sizes than sold elsewhere so it makes it very difficult to tell if it is a bargain or not. Often the container is the same size just to add to the confusion
What folk need to realise is that a business only needs to have had a product at a higher price at ONE shop ( anywhere in the country) for a minimum period of time ; for them to then say they are having a price reduction / sale / half price ,or whatever
