Price of dry cleaning!

Just popped into Johnsons dry cleaners to enquire how much it would cost to dry clean a suede jacket and guess how much? ................... £49.99 !!!! Just gob smacked! What a price, can't afford that, so will have to throw it away or take out a bank loan!!!! How can they justify charges like that? I asked if they ever have special offers on suede and leather and the girl said No very rarely!

well, it's specialist cleaning..... I paid £17.99 to resole my boots the other day, the boots didn't cost me that much!

The two suede jackets (mine and OH) were not that expensive - prob about £80 each, but still not worth doing, its a lesson for me to only buy dark coloured ones in future.

Get yourself a can of suede cleaner-comes with a little brush so you spray it on and then brush in to raise the nap. May not be perfect-but can't hurt to try.

I thought that too Pasta - it used to be £30ish which I could perhaps just about manage but £50! Disgraceful! Wonder how many customers they get?

Certainly not many at that price. Maybe they can afford to loose business.
I recently enquired about having scarves cleaned-£3.50 each just for them!
Do look into the spray-I found it excellent for suede shoes and boots-which get very grubby.

I think that they are expensive - £7-50 for trousers here and a friends local d-c shop in Ripley near Guildford, despite the overheads of Surrey, charged £5 for equally as good a job,

ummmm - ordinary breeks, the point is that Johnson's is expensive. The States one pays dollars for pounds on this, IMHO Johnsons is almost a monopoly it seems. They even use village POs as collection points down here.
