The Dead Of Mariupol
I have now found a link to the report I mentioned earlier that investigations suggest at least 87,000 civilians have died in that city since Feb 24.
In fact a figure of 110,000 has been seriously suggested.

That will be quite a fait divers for Putin's obituary when it comes

I saw a stat also that showed the number of civilian installations: schools, public buildings, etc destroyed by the Russians and it dwarfs the number of military installations they’ve hit.

“I can't believe Putin's replacement could be worse LadyCG.”
Two words: Nikolai Patrushev.
Tho if rumours are to be believed he’s unlikely to take the reins other than in a hardline coup.

One thing I do know is that if Russia is not stopped in Ukraine and made to retreat; if, in fact it should win the land it desires - then no country would be safe and it would 'pick off' other countries until we would be fighting with our backs to the wall. We must support Ukraine with all the means we can. They are paying in blood for us as well as themselves.

They didn't quite just walk in.
And the locals were organising public demos against the occupiers at first until things got nasty.
But partisans operate in the city now, as they also do in Melitopol and a lot of local collaborators have been assassinated. The russian-appointed head of Kherson has already abandoned ship to Voronezh, Russia, as the eagle-eyed spotted on his video address to his "people".
I think the return of Kherson to Ukraine is inevitable, but i might not be quick. The Russians are getting pounded mercilessly, and the famous Antonivsky bridge really is ***** now.
