I assume you have set the camera to 'macro'?
I have a 3.2 Olympus, and also a 6 meg Olympus. I don't know if it is something to do with the brand, but I cannot get either of them to focus close up, macro or not, and the 3.2 actually takes close ups better without macro on.
I will watch replies with interest.
Good luck
With Macro on - it enables you to take close ups - further away - I use the zoom with my Fuji when Macro is on - and you can of course get too close - practice with a ruler held againts the subject - move it away a cm at a time and then download the photos on your computer as your screen on your camera only gives an idea of the quality and see what's best - then remember the distance and use it next time. the problem with Macro also is that it uses a very short depth of field to achieve the shot so margin of error is increased.

How do I set the camera to macro? I can't find it in the instruction booklet.
Usually a button with a magnifier glass - sometimes in yellow or green. You'll either have a button or a setting - If it's in the index of the manual it should tell you where it is - if it isn't in the index - I don't think it will have Macro
