Two Things You Should Never Talk About...
9 Answers
Are Religion and politics.
Got friends and family that are Tories (Im a socialist)
Got friends and family that are religious (Im not)
Whats the problem?
Also got friends/acquaintances/ etc
that are vegan/vegetarian etc.
Or gay and straight for that matter.
Not a problem. (for me at least)
What IS a problem is respect for each others rights.
If I want to eat a chicken as an anti vegan, God denying, straight, guy who happens to be a socialist....
Then it becomes a problem...For you!

But people like that are the exception.
Most are respectful and stick to non- contentious subjects.
One man finding I was a Guest Speaker, asked me what my fees were, which was a tad awkward!!
But to return to your OP, I think it's all about courtesy and respect for others.

we had a guest speaker ( cruise ) famous comedian
who was on the flight out when we next docked !
apparently par for the course
a colleague was a famous person and was flown out to Minnesota to give a speech and was on the first flight out again !
turned in his famous person badge and stayed at home for ten years.
Another would fly down from Glasgow to London and be famous for an hour in London and fly back for dindins
Honestly some people can do this week after week
