The Dutch city of Haarlem will be the first in the world to do so. Apparently farmers are also being told to reduce animal numbers, many will go out of business.

I spent this weekend in London with a friend who is vegetarian and was totally meat free at each meal. I didn't miss it, and I am a big meat eater normally. Its wasn't rabbit food either, we went to a Turkish restaurant the first night and an Indian the next with delicious food. I think everyone would benefit from reducing their meat intake even just one main meal a week.

Yes, I know that ymf. Raising cattle and sheep makes the best use of what would otherwise be wasted land.
Meaghan...I've no problem with that...as long as vegans in particular get all necessary nutrients.
I do have problems with a government possibly telling farmers what they should grow...or people what they *should* eat. Advice is good, but we all need to decide what works for us as individuals.

pastafreak //I suspect if similar was suggested here, both farmers and the public would be protesting.//
There have been constant mass protests in Holland and throughout the EU, by farmers and the public, over these ideologically driven diktats.
It seems, not content with engineering power/heating shortages, the EU fat cats are determined to create food shortages as well.
I'm told there's very little/zero coverage of these protests on the UK news. I wonder why?
