I've always known the Queen's birthday because it's the same as my mums! Now I've just had to look up the Kings birthday....14th November!

One day before my Dad's birthday but 31 years after.
November 14th, 2 days before my Mums birthday.
Will you be sending a card Tora. I wonder whether he will have an official birthday?

Yes he'll have the official birthday in June as now I'd imagine.
Why did you need to look up the King's birthday?
//I wonder whether he will have an official birthday?//

He most certainly will. The origin of the Monarch's "official" birthday goes back to 1660 and King Charles II. It became official in 1748 in the reign of King George II. But it was King Edward VII who finally determined the tradition. His birthday was in November and the King wanted to celebrate when the weather was better, so he decided to have his official birthday ceremony, known as the Trooping of the Colour, in June from then on.
Close to mine so I have always known Charles’ birthday but was never quite able to recall the Queens.
One day before, er, mine :)
spare a thought for the nation's QCs, who will have to pulp all their notepaper...
