St Ives is lovely. My husband's parents went down yesterday for a week. There are some lovely places to go down there. Don't miss the harbour seals.
In terms of a nice watering hole there's The Sloop - the Cornish Rattler is superb. There are a couple of nice pubs up Fore Street too.
Food wise The Cellar is nice and so is The Loft, where all 8 of use ate after our wedding ceremony. For more simple pub fayre The Lifeboat is okay.
I hope the weather is good for you.

Hi LCG, I was hoping you would see this post as I know you love St Ives.
I’ve got the Loft and Cellar on my list, so I’m glad you’ve confirmed that they’re good. I’ve also been recommended The Mermaid.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the weather. We were in Padstow last November and the wind was extreme. I had to cancel Tintagel, so hopefully, this year, I’ll get to go.

Too long ago for me to give you recommendations, Rocky, just a wonderful memory.
During MrG's dialysis years we could only have a rare holiday in a hotel in St.Ives where folk could also have dialysis in the conservatory. Folk on dialysis can only drink a very, very limited amount each day.
The Renal Nurse who ran the little hotel would give the men a whole pint of much missed beer just before the dialysis session...beer in...beer straight out.

The Porthminster Beach Café (which is actually an upmarket bistro, rather than the type of place that you might possibly think of as a 'beach café'), gets plenty of praise and awards:

Jelberts for proper Cornish ice-cream in Newlyn, more savoury than normal offerings so it takes the huge dollop of Cornish cream that one can add better.... - it's been there all my life and it's owned by Helen Glover's family, she of 1st London Olympics gold medal fame.
Would also recommend the Victoria at Perranuthnoe between Marazion and Helston, off the main road.
