and the Anglican hierarchy said - nope - roman crap - er Smells and Bells typical of the schismatic Bishop of Rome and his adherents
so doo-dah of toch-H devised a service of carols and readings, which angered the anglican bishops ( no worship of the dead etc) but immediately caught on. Soon everyone was doing it.
The Archbish said sulkily - "o god dammit, OK then....but only under protest etc" - - - you know "the whole point of a hierarchy is I tell you . Not - you tell me"
