Do Youngsters Still Sniff Glue?
13 Answers
I remember being in a hardware shop when a teenager came in and asked for two tins of glue. The assistant reached under the counter and produced tins already wrapped in brown paper and sellotape.
The shop clearly wasn't overly interested in the welfare of its younger customers.

I remember youngsters inhaling this from cans of ice cold (for spraying on aching muscles) during the 80s and thought it the fad had long died out.
I haven't seen any scabby faced youths recently (a sure sign of glue sniffing) but I do see plenty of nitrous oxide cannisters in gutters and parks, the latest craze (hippy crack)

The youth of today use nitrous oxide (laughing gas),

Brings back happy memories. Back in the 80s while walking my dog, i came across a group of glue sniffers. Their 'leader', a particularly nasty little cretin, was sat on someone's garden fence with his nose well and truly inside the bag. As i approached, he slurred, "What you staring at?". He then fell off the fence and broke his arm. As i said, happy days:-)

Glue-sniffing and inhaling nitrous oxide have long existed side by side. Back in my teaching days, our school yard and playing fields would be littered with nitrous oxide cylinders on a Monday morning, after kids had been using them over the weekend - and that was 40 years ago!
