Dripping Shower.

My thermostatic bar shower mixer sometimes drips after it's turned off. I found that if I turn off the flow knob, then turn it back towards the on position (only a tiny turn, maybe 1 degree) then the drip stops. I thought I'd share this experience, in case it helps anyone else with a similar problem.

Is it a constant drip or just the pipes emptying the last drops of water

johnk; it's a slow drip (about one drop per 30 seconds.) It doesn't stop, so it's not just the shower head emptying itself. I think the ceramic disks may be slightly misaligned or have slight damage, and adjusting their relative position by a small amount seems to stop the problem.

Also try unscrewing the shower head after use and empty out the head and pipe. If you have a small leakage getting past the seal it can soon build up on top of the water already left in from the last shower.

Thanks pimply. I've done that and by morning the drip is still there.
I have fixed it by the method I described. What I don't want to do is install a new cartridge - they cost an arm and a leg.

I've had the same problem with my Mira shower it was a pain at night time, I could hear it dripping. But making sure it was empty worked for me. Being a very small leakage means it would take a very long time to top up. But I get what you mean about the small adjustment. They are expensive like you say so getting them to last for as long as possible makes sense.
