After getting the time of my ECG wrong and being told I had to be booked back in for next Friday I suggested to LordMG that we pop into one of the Olde Worlde pubs in the village.

By the time we got home neither of us felt like prepping dinner so OH got the Chinese Menu out.

On the Chinese menu there is a special section called "English Dishes". The first item under said sub-menu is "Spanish Omelette".

Well it tickled us!

What disparities have tickled you lately?

Loosely related, on holiday on Lanzarote in June I fancied something light so ordered a Spanish omelette expecting what the Chinese produce and was presented with a quarter ton of eggs and potatoes instead of some egg with sundry veg, shellfish and meat mixed in

Even ketchup and an extra pint of Tropical couldn't save the day.

I take it you don't like traditional tortilla then, Doug. I love the stuff and during my days in Spain when I used to pop to Carrefour a cortado (coffee) and bocadillo de tortilla de patatas (omelette baguette) was a must-do.

The little one is mad on tortilla.

By the way, it might sound revolting but hot tortilla wrap or baguette with salad cream is to die for. Something I would consider a treat (carbs don't agree with me).

I got the time of my appointment wrong, PP. I thought my appointment was at 17:40 but it was at 17:20. I got there at 17:35 and was told I was "half an hour late."

I pointed out that 17:20 to 17:35 was in fact 15 minutes but it wouldn't compute. I'm afraid the light was on but there was nobody home. Now I have to wait another week for my ECG.

i can't understand that, if i were 15 minutes late for a procedure like a ECG i am pretty sure i would still be seen. Perhaps the capital's hospitals are different. one can't always for whatever reason be on time. I was late for a MRI scan because of patient transport who were very late picking me up, and subsequently i got there about half an hour after my appointment time, i explained and they did the scan

You were just unlucky LCG. Seldom are people seen at their appointed time. Invariably one can wait 15 minutes or more beyond the time when they were meant to be seen. Better luck next time. May I suggest you out an elastic band around your wrist.

At my GP, if you're 15 minutes late then that's still about half an hour before they're ready to see you. Recently I had the first appointment of the day, was there five minutes early and was called in fifteen minutes late. The doctor had been there the whole time. She must have picked up on my carefully hidden disappointment, because she said "Your appointment started on time, I've just been going through your notes"!

Reminded me of a Chines restaurant I went to in Spain. The menu had been in Spanish and that had then been translated to English so you had things like, Rice fried Special, Egg young Foo etc!
