I have various ext drives with a few old computer back ups on.
i dont want to install the back ups back to my comp, but i'd like to see what stuff is on them

whenever i click on them it brings up weird stuff, lots of file names i dont know, numbers etc
nothing i recognise

is there a way to just look through whats on there, like a normal computer folder?

Im on windows 10

Thanks :)

Is it just the file names that are problematic or the files themselves?
How are you accessing them?
Are they backups using specific software such as Acronis or Paragon?

its all of that, they just dont open, or it asks me what programme i want to use to view them with - there are no file titles or document titles etc & there seems to be a few different file types
i dont know which files are computer OS files, software files, or my files - theres loads of them
Just to confirm you did use back up software to make a copy of your entire hard drive? If so, can you remember what software you used?

Not just copied files from your PC to the external drive.
Question Author
i think they are just normal windows back ups
i dont remember using and separate software

thanks
