The Queen Is Dead - A Poem
4 Answers
I'm no Simon Armitage (Poet Laureatte), i know, but i hope some of you find the following poem a fitting (if amateur) tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen is dead
A family in grief
Their matriarch stolen
Time is the thief
But also the healer
Or so it is said
Remembered forever
Our beloved dead
The Queen is dead
And a nation cries
As the clearest of rainbows
Arc across our skies
She is no longer with us
Pray for her soul
While being grateful for
Her lifetime's role
The Queen is dead
Her soul ascended
Her glorious reign
Is over, now ended
She served her nation
Through good times and strife
Remembering her vow
To do so for life
The Queen is dead
A nation mourns
As we reflect upon
A crown, well worn
No longer with us
She has passed away
The end of an era
Dawn of a new day
The Queen is dead
Her reign is done
Her duties passed
To her eldest son
As she joins her Prince
Hear the angels sing
The Queen is dead
Long Live The King
The Queen is dead
A family in grief
Their matriarch stolen
Time is the thief
But also the healer
Or so it is said
Remembered forever
Our beloved dead
The Queen is dead
And a nation cries
As the clearest of rainbows
Arc across our skies
She is no longer with us
Pray for her soul
While being grateful for
Her lifetime's role
The Queen is dead
Her soul ascended
Her glorious reign
Is over, now ended
She served her nation
Through good times and strife
Remembering her vow
To do so for life
The Queen is dead
A nation mourns
As we reflect upon
A crown, well worn
No longer with us
She has passed away
The end of an era
Dawn of a new day
The Queen is dead
Her reign is done
Her duties passed
To her eldest son
As she joins her Prince
Hear the angels sing
The Queen is dead
Long Live The King
