Here is the list of capitals closest to the Equator - Caracas is well down the list being 700 miles away! Cayenne (French Guiana) is the nearest "C" capital.

That's thinking outside the box, Spicey! However, there are a whole heap of countries actually on the Equator and so it could be any of their currencies. There is no one country that is nearest to the Equator!
