Hi Does anyone know how many you can have in a two bedroom property legally? My daughter is looking to rent privately and she and her partner have three daughters, can she rent a two bedroom place or does it have to be three bedroom, the reason im asking is the three bed properties are so expensive TIA
Don't know what is legal but how old are the daughters. Would they sleep in the same room. Depends on the size of the place and what the land lord allows
If there is a bedroom big enough for all 3 daughters, there ought to be no problem. As far as i am aware, it is only when you have sons and daughters and one or more are nearing the age of puberty that another bedroom is needed.
The law is one thing but the Landlord/Lady is another.
When we had a number of properties we would not allow this. Did it once and the place suffered much more wear and tear, which of course they were not paying for.
>>> There is only a limit where it involves children over age 10 of opposite sex
While 7272 is correct in saying that children under 10 years of age are disregarded when considering the 'room standard', children from 1 to 9 years are counted (as a half person) when considering the 'space standard'.
