I rarely, if ever, feel lonely at home. I just enjoy my own company (and that of the cats, of course!)
A time when I'm likely to feel lonely might be if, say, I was in a crowded pub, where everyone else was in a couple or a group but I was on my own, with nobody to talk to.
I embarrass my husband by doing so. I always used to stop and talk to the homeless and beggars on the streets when I was mobile. He would pretend he wasn't with me!
jj, do you think your deafness plays some part in your feeling lonely? I do not know if you manage well enough in your phone conversations - if this is the case I can understand why you might feel somewhat cut off from others when you are on your own in the evening and not going out and about to meet others or walking your lovely little dog.
Am sorry you feel/felt lonely.I’m always here to talk to, work if you ever want to talk outside of AB just email me and I’ll give you all my contact details xx. [email protected]
ach thanks Smow bless you. just had a lonely moment or hours last night LOL, I am missing my friends who weren't acquaintances but true friends. Two zany ones and the rest just there for you. I count about 7 within 4 years and then 4 brothers within maybe10 years too. All in all when I previously felt lonely then I could ring them and also one of them practically lived with me at the weekend - female friend - absolutely loved her as she loved me with unconditional love and very funny. Know my sister misses her too as she was her friend too.
Me too, And I find myself on Freeview ITV 3 watching George and Mildred, man about the house, and rising damp. There’s something quite comforting about having those on in the background.
