The housemartins left yesterday, the gulls are returning to the winter roost on the reservoir, any other signs that you use to judge the change of the seasons?

We think our housemartins went within the last couple of days.

However, the wrens have another clutch of young just fledged.

Everything is a bit out of sorts given the "false spring".

The goldfinches are in huge numbers in the garden. When they squabble, they are hysterical.

Condensation on the inside of the bedroom window in the morning. Haven't seen it yet but I did put on some sunglasses that were in the car and they misted up.

Seen a couple of wedges(yes, collective noun for geese in flight) of Canada geese leaving at night for sunnier climes.
Often wondered why I’ve only ever seen them at night and found this:

Strange some move away and others fly in, same with robin's and blackbirds, your winter robin might not get out summer one.

Yup, the geese. Never had any swallows this year.

The sound of the pink-footed geese flying over to the coastal areas.

The berries on our very tall holly tree are plaentiful and ripening well. Many small birds have been in and out of the branches today. We await the redwings arrival very soon. My neighbour 2 doors down has a good view of the tree and last year she saw the redwings strip it bare in one day.
