New Tesco Online Payment Method
24 Answers
I can't get my head round the new method of payment for Tesco online grocery shopping.
I've shopped online at Tesco and had my groceries delivered for years, and always used my card details without a problem.
This week when I went to checkout it's telling me I need to verify my card through an app on my phone.
I have no idea at all how to do this.
Has anyone else done this, and if so can you talk me through it in an idiot-proof way please?

Up until now I've not been asked asked to 'approve a transaction' for my tesco deliveries but I do from time to time get asked for this for other online orders when checking out.
I know a lot of people don't like online banking or banking apps for one reason or other but its the way things are going. I even discovered I could pay a cheque in on my banking app a couple of months ago! I thought I was going to have to make a trip to the bank but didn't need to :o)

I spoke to tesco on the phone. They will only accept credit or debit card payment if it is verified using an app that can only be downloaded if the customer is registered for online banking. I made my feelings known and said goodbye to tesco after decades of custom. I'll now have to find a groceries provider that doesn't require that method of payment. It sucks
