I keep having dreams about being shot and stabbed -Why is this and what does it mean?

As always with this sort of thing there are several possibilities. General anxiety is a good one, as littlebean points out. But somewtimes it can be something more specific, a particular traumatic event that you are not looking forward to, and which will seem to change your life. This is a slightly jungian viewpoint, as in the post-jungian world death is a symbol of change, much as in tarot cards. A Freudian would say that you are anxious about some aspect of your sexlife: both shooting and stabbing are penetrative acts, therefore you fear penetration. But Freudians have incurably dirty minds.

To dream of being shot signifies that you may be experiencing some confrontation in your life. You might be feeling victimised. A stabbing indicates a struggle with power, and the associated feelings of anxiety and defensiveness. Also it could be an indication that you fear being betrayed e.g. "being stabbed in the back" So yes, feelings of anxiety.
