Eeek! I hope she grows into those ears.
What time is bath, bed and storytime?
This made me laugh. My two are 14 months old now and I’m still waiting for them to cuddle us/ sit on our laps! I just assumed that they would be like all the other cats we’ve had and would play/ get on the sofa in the evening and curl up to us, or get on our laps for cuddles but no. In the year we’ve had them Molly has NEVER got on either of us! Daisy has got on my lap maybe 3 times, but NEVER on Justin’s lap. Which I know is seriously peeing him off - he asks why we even have them! They will let you stroke them, and lay on the floor by your feet - and they will sometimes get on the bed and lay at the bottom, but that’s it! Very frustrating-feels like all we do is feed them!!
Awwww...I adore black cats. The cat that emigrated with us was a big boy that weighed a stone and sat on shoulders. Apparently another name for a black cat is 'void', lol

Lol Pimplyteen. No way am I bathing this pair, I like my skin as it is.

I know I'm daft over them, but I care not.

They are loved and wanted and after their awful start in life, I'd like them to know that there are two humans who are safe for them.
I am glad you are enjoying them - they are very lucky kittens :-)
Gorgeous kitties..

Smow, have you handled them regularly and talked to them? Kittens need to learn this because it isn't natural. I pick mine up all the time and chatter away to them.

They are starting to respond to my voice. One will curl up on me at every opportunity and the other (the feisty one who has NO fear) has started to cuddle over the last couple of days.
amongst our five are three we've had since they were born (they've never lived anywhere else), they're now ten. great fun trying to ensure they didn't out-think us - noticing when they were big enough to tackle the stairs, thinking up new ways to contain them when they worked out how to climb over the partitions that (should) stop them venturing, trying to stop them getting out of the catflap when they noticed how it worked. they were good during bluebottle season, but had to be restrained during big spider season. would we do it again? oh probably.......
Question Author
Mushroom- I get this. They come across as daft, but my goodness they are smart. The outthinking thing was clear to us the other day when one of them sussed the way to get to the toy I was playing with for them was to jump on my shoulder and walk down my arm.

Cats aren't stupid.

I really miss having cats around the house. Blue was the destructive one with scratch marks all over my furniture and Tigger would bring me presents that ran around the room until I rescued them from the jaws of death!
My two were 18 months when they adopted me so I missed out on the initial chaos.

Merlin (my current profile picture) wasn't very bright and she was a little on the vicious side.

Frankie was totally different. I bought a laser pointer for them to keep them active. Frankie played for about five minutes, turned and stared at me. He then came over and stuck his claws around my arm and stuck his teeth into my wrist. I was amazed that he could find the link between the uncatchable red dot and me.

Cats see what they want and then find a way to get it. They don't need years of school - they are just born smart.

Wait til they are a bit bigger..... I had four up to the age of 14 weeks.... That was thirty five years ago.... I might stop twitching eventually
Barmaid I pick them up all the time - daily, but they simply scramble to get down. Yet when they lay by my feet they are both purring like mad. They will let me stroke them on the floor, and will both roll onto their backs with legs in the air for me to tickle them.
Like people, cats are different personalities also. And then they'll change. Months of doing their own thing...then suddenly they are glued to you.
Thankfully I am allergic to cats...

Smow, try sitting and leaning forwards and then give one of them a slow blink. Then pick her up, stroke her once and put her down again. After a few tries if she starts to relax let her go down when she wants to. You could also try picking her up, giving her a treat then down again.

You need to try it regularly and frequently. It might not work. Cats have a different mind set to other animals and to each other.

It took several years for ASBO to come for fuss, despite me handling him all the time. He was part feral tho. But by the time he was about 6 or 7 he hated it if I wasn't around. He wouldn't necessarily sit on me but he liked to be within touching distance of me. Whichever room I was in, he'd be there. It was a month on Tues since I lost him. I still cry. I really miss him.

One of the kittens sits in his spot. She's a feisty one too.
Question Author
Pasta, they do, don't they? ASBO would never take food out your fingers, unless it was Mr BM. Even chicken. He would have a favourite spot for weeks then wouldn't go there again in favour of his new favourite spot. He hated wind, but if it was raining and windy he'd go out. Only for 5 mins then he would want drying (I know, I know- that goes back to when he was a kitten and I had a white stone tiled floor).

They are very funny, lovable rogues.
