Favorite Colour

Most people have a favorite colour. Is there any data across people of different cultures, countries? Are gender and/ or age determinants of favorite colour?

Many Muslim countries favour black (for women) and white (for men).

Blue is very popular in the west & westernised cultures - blue jeans etc.

Older ladies seem to like purple.

I've tended to assume few really have a favourite colour, but were badgered sufficiently as a kid to name one, so finally picked a random one to keep others happy. So I suspect little correlation with groups; maybe just a tendency to lighter or darker perhaps.

even in 1980, when I was in Cairo, people pointed out that the most picked colour of muslims was Green and that was due to the profusion of green flags and motifs

cultures - basically skewed by "x" in Japanese may be translated 'red' but there is no doubt it (x) covers a different part of the spectrum than 'red' does in Europeans. Japanese only has three colour words
