Washing Woollen Sweaters

Getting ready for winter. Too tedious to wash and dry my wool sweaters by hand, they take so long to dry. Can I put on a 30 setting if I put them in a pillowcase, and dry at 800 ( whatever that means on my washing machine).

I would never dry wool sweaters in a machine wet. I dry them in the house on a clothes rack

Smurf; I think that 800 means a spin at 800 rpm. It's not a dry, just a spin. Why not spin them and then put them on your airer to dry in the house? They'll dry quicker after a spin than after a hand wring.

Just wondered though, whether I could use the 600 or 800 spin cycle, then finish off on the airer, so they don’t drip so much.

800 spin will spin off more water, but might be a bit tougher on your woollens.

Me; I'd spin and then leave to dry. They won't drip much after a spin, the bigger the spin number, the drier they will be when you take them out of the machine.

As others have said - wash at 30, dry naturally. End.

Yes...wash at 30, low spin, air dry. I've been doing that for years.

Last year I accidentally washed a merino wool scarf on 40...it turned into felt. I was heartbroken.

Don't know how old you are but is this existential threat to your laundry not something you have considered before?

deffo do not tumble dry wool unless the label says you can

The Wool programme on my washing machine is 30 degree wash and 800 spin cycle. I put each garment in a separate, zipped laundry bag.
