Help with:
\Across clues have an extra word to be removed before solving.
Down clues are normal.
Across:
2 A melody oddly played shortly after first appearance? (6)
16 Migrant discovered healthy in agreeably dated part of Kent (5)
29 Stock image that will do, covering time before artistry (6)
Down:
25 Elderly couples taking over in Jamaican dances (6)
28 Deep collar assigned place on middle of chest (6)
2 - anag A+ODDLY - the last 4 words are an oblique def (3-3 hyphenated).
16 'migrant' = anag hEALTHy ('discovered') obscure answer ['agreeably is extra'].
29 'that will do' = SO [around] T(ime) + 3 letters for 'before' [extra is 'artistry']
Thanks ProfessorM.
I am still working on last 6 across clues.
I have possible solution to 4 of them but do not see the parsing.
For creator, I see 5, 9.
36 - 'solvent' is the def - anag of STRE(e)T 'avoiding climax of 'th(e)' ['misery' extra]
39 'Elderly (means it's anarchaic) men perhaps impressed' is the def ('impressed' = they're forced into service) it's a synonym for 'feeling' reversed [extra is 'boyhood'].
