I often think about this. I certainly wouldn't have listened to my mother!

Marine biologist.

Would still have chosen to be a teacher, absolutely loved my job, found it totally rewarding
Worked in hospital out-patients Reception and loved it till it was decided I would be better in medical secretarial - it was OK but I wrote in my medical dictionary "This is a helluva way to make a living"!
Archaeologist or palaeontologist (if I didn't have a fear of worms or other invertebrates!).

My mother was a typist/secretary and wanted me to be one too and learn typing so she put me on a Scheidgger course :o/ I failed.
My mother never told me what to do. She did tell me I should go to college and study something (business studies in my case) but that was only because I was biding my time for a few years until I was old enough to do what I really wanted to do. I remember my friend at college wanted to go into nursing in the Army and her mother told her not to. She listened to her Mum and spent a lifetime in admin jobs.
Did we all learn not to tell our children what to do career-wise?
The one I've always wanted to do - write.
Instead I taught - and I learned so much that now I think that the younger me would not have made a great writer. However, now I know that - I can't have that much time left! At least I'm writing and published locally and being read. Magnus Opus is lurking - when life permits. :)
^^^ Mum wanted me to be a secretary - I tried it, then trained as a teacher.
first job was a gift, i loved it, working for Time/Life magazines in New Bond Street. sadly i didn't get the career of journalist, as i was made redundant aged just 17, life was never the same again.
Gigolo, but I would have needed to be born in a different body ;-(
I’d join the police force.
Ello, ello, ello, what 'ave we 'ere, gentlemen?

Said sergeant Smow whilst brandishing her baton!
Lol!!
I would have learnt a trade. Probably electrician, as when working on new builds they only go in when all the windows are in.
