caterpillars in my sons bedroom - help!

not sure what to do about this, but in my sons bedroom there are these caterpillars - small maggot colour - crawling over the ceiling. have spring cleaned the whole room and cannot find anything. i am hoovering them up and after leaving room for a few hours they appear again. help- please if anyone knows what they are or what i should look for ...i.e a nest????

Have you checked under his bed for a dead pizza or a king size hamburger rotting away ?

thats why i spring cleaned whole room - nothing rotting anywhere...... maybe a moth.......

These insects could be a number of things - are they maggots or caterpillars?
Caterpillars may be via moth - have they legs ? Segmented bodies ?
If maggots i would check the attic for any dead rodents / birds. I would also check for nests - these can be harborages to numerous pests / bugs. Beaware though if starlings as they are now fully protected species & on endangered list.

How big/long are they? They could be 'woolly bears' - carpet bugs.

Check the corners/edges of your carpet and especially under/behind furniture (places that don't get hoovered every time).

I agree with Pesty and makemesmile, you need to look for threadbare patches on carpets in corners under furniture etc, if you find these threadbare patches you will need to call a pest control company, there is nothing on the open market that will effectively eradicate these moths and larvae

Woolly bears also like woolly clothes, as one of my friends found out to her cost when they ate a big hole in her favourite jumper! Check all clothes!

thanks eveyone who replied - been unable to get internet access since posting question. i now keep getting little moths appearing in his room and still the odd caterpillar but still unable to work out where the are appearing from....not sure what im looking for. my poor son is still sleeping on the floor in my other sons bedroom....still at least its not the dreaded woolly bear!!! thanks again to you all....
