Creepy Attentions In The Olden Days.

Has anybody got memories of "odd bods" doing odd things when they were young? I have a few. We took them in our stride; we knew when things were a bit odd, and we avoided people like that. It seemed part of life that some people were "odd". Colonel Blood went around kissing every street tree that he met. Some priests seemed to be interested in our opinions on our young friends (girls). Nobody made a fuss; but then I was never a victim of anything physically dangerous. I think that we realised that some adults were not comfortable to be with, and so we avoided them where possible. It must have been awful if there had been a more forceful approach from people, but I fortunately missed that.

there was a fella in our town back in the day, who wore three heavy overcoats in summer winter spring, used to sit on park benches staring at the sky, mate said i dare you to speak to him, me what the hell..
turned out to be a nice bloke, just a bit lost, and didnt care about his situation, as i got older iwould still see him, bought him a few cans of ale, sat and had a few with him...often wondered what became of him.

Fender; nowadays, the fella would have probably been reported on some local pedowatch website and been hounded away from his bench. From what you say he wasn't a threat to the welfare or morals of local kids, but he didn't fit in.

Atheist, he was not interested in kids, just a lost fellow, happy in his own world, reported today of course, but they would still ignore him, never started fights or entered any..just sat there, i wish him well where ever he is, this life or the next if you believe in such things.

Fender; we had a local case of a bloke who sat on a bench on T**** Green each day, just to have a smoke in his lunch hour. He was circulated on local mumsnet/watch/pedowatch type sites and ended up in the local paper. There's a rather paranoid atmosphere, which is encouraged by the redtop media.
