I have two insurance policies for house and contents and boiler but neither will accept a claim for a leaking boiler replacement. Water damage yes but boiler replacement no chance. F’ing ridiculous!!!!!
You're tempting fate with that comment TTT. In the last few weeks you've supported Boris and Liz; now they're both toast and your toaster is broken. Coincidence?
My boiler was installed in 1996 & with occasional servicing works perfectly. If it developed a leak and proved to be irreparable would I be justified in trying to claim for a new boiler from my house insurance? Hm...
As others have said, home insurance will cover any damage caused by the breakdown but not the item. You would have to go to a Company like Domestic and General who cover repairs and repacement if not repairable. I believe they do cover for boilers.
