Silly girl. Rishi's appointment is a victory for all downtrodden, struggling immigrant families. And a salutary lesson for the Neanderthals who refused to praise diversity.

No? They’re just lucky then, aren’t they. People who say what you’re saying either don’t have the brains, the wherewithal, the impetus, or the determination to work 24/7, to take chances, and to put everything they have, both physically and financially, into doing what those they criticise have done. You resent them having what they have but you wouldn't mind having it yourself. Heard it all before - and it doesn't wash.

you have no idea what i have or don't have naomi... you don't even know my name. curious behaviour indeed for mrs "i don't lie" lol.
what i actually said was "there is nothing wrong with doing well but there is something wrong with pretending you weren't lucky"... that's it... I do think those of us who do well should recognise the good luck we have enjoyed and perhaps refrain from treating the less fortunate like something one has stepped in.
how very telling that such an idea got right under your fingernails

doing well largely consists of taking advantage of opportunity (and yes working hard at it...) whether or not you possess the confidence, the good health (mental or physical) or the necessary faculties to take advantage of opportunities - and whether they come at all - is not something that any of us are really in full control of. I don't believe in looking down on people who lose out.
How strange that the best answer goes to Spicerack?
What was that about Neanderthals and diversity?
Odd that you chose this highly homophobic reply then as Best Answer?
Since I reported it, the BA has been removed, yet the post itself remains? The one about mince pies and fairy cakes.
I mean, seriously, in the 21st century? Neanderthal doesn’t come close.

That most definitely breaks Rule Number 6 and I’m shocked that it’s actually been allowed to remain on this website, one that is owned by an openly gay man.
I’m sure he’d be mortified if he knew what was being posted?

Doing well also consists largely of making opportunity. No one is looking down on people who don't do well - we can't all be super duper entrepreneurs and society would be in a mess (literally) without dustmen and sewage workers - but to say that luck is always involved in success is absolutely wrong - and it is insulting - but you don't care about that.

and yet earlier this morning...

"And thats why you are there in your mums basement tapping on AB while Rishi runs the country from his pile. "
these attacks are obviously based on the assumption that i am poor...

//Luck is always involved in success...// to be successful is by definition to be lucky.//
Indeed. The harder I worked, the luckier I seemed to get.

I don't think so. I know many people who have been what you might call successful. They've not always ended up wealthy (that's not the sole measure of success) but have done well in their chosen careers because they worked hard at it. There was little or no luck involved.
