Hi. I want to go to uni next year to do a marketing degree. Can anybody recommend any good uni's with a good reputation for marketing degrees? Also...I want to get into PR so do you think it's better to take Marketing as a single BA or a joint with another subject ie business? Any information whatsoever will be appreciated. And also...can anyone give me any advice on writing my personal statement coz im rubbish at selling myself. Thanks!! :D

thepheebster. The best way to sell yourself on your cv is to avoid being vague. Be specific about what you have done for who and what you learnt from it. You want to include lots of company names, specific job titles and responsibilities. Exact names of computer packages, clubs, blah, blah, blah - whatever you intend to include - but you must give it an exact name. Don't just say I did some work experience in a marketing department.
After you have all the facts, you can jazz it up a bit (not too much) and use the occasional adjective to make yourself look better.
The main point is - be specific, not vague. Companies want a very clear picture of what you have done and what you know. It seems hard at first, but when you think about it you've probably done and learnt a lot more than you first thought.
What does she need a cv for? To get a job perhaps .... in the meantime she can use part of it for a ps. The same rules still apply. If you want to impress, be exact. Don't be vague, ie, I enjoy horse riding and chess, is alright, but, I am a member of The East Cheam Dressage society, and regualry attend Chiswick Chess Champions Pub league, is much better.
Wouldn't you say Hayhoe?
