Tramadol

Been to the doc today,
He said from x-rays your neck is knackered ( his words) so all your arm pains etc. is from that. nothing can be done, so pain killers are the only answer, but you will have good times and bad. Pain killers for night use are Tramadol, and day use is co-codamol 500/30.
Tramadol worry me, as these are also used as a leisure drug, so i am told. whats the problem with them?
I tried googling it, but so many contradictions. Bit concerned, as last time i took them, about 5 years ago, after two days i had a mini stroke, but the cause may have been excess salt intake ( I couldn't get enough salt, just wanted everthing excessively salty) or because I fell out of the loft and crushed my chest and possibly caused a blood clot.

Tramadol has been reclassified to a "controlled drug" where i work (not sure if its nationwide)... Its kept in a locked cupboard now - it wasnt before.

It can be habit forming, is morphine based however it is effective!

Just be carefull. Make sure you dont get constipated or
Nauseated!! .... Mabye you could take only 50mg and not 100mg!?

You could save it as a last resort if you are worried and take cocod/ brufen if you can and if still no relief then a tramadol?

Dizmo I have taken more than 100mg at once and it still didn't get me high, I just felt sick and a bit dizzy.

Codeine is an odd one, it makes me behave in a very odd manner but also causes nausea. Codeine taken at the same time as Tramadol resulted in me passing out and smashing my face on a kitchen cabinet, a black eye was my reward for that stupidity.

Tramadol isn't morphine based. It is a fully synthetic drug and contains no morphine what so ever. That's besides the point though - it can be addictive if taken over long periods of time and in large doses. If you're having any issues then I suggest speaking to your GP.

Daffy: If taken at doses above 1-2 grams then yes you'll find that you are some what in a state of 'highness'.

I have to sign my prescription twice now for Tramadol, once on the back and then again on the front when the pharmacist hands me my tablets.

It is definitely addictive, every now and then I self withdraw from it, it causes twitching, sweating and irritability along with unbearable pain from my chest damage (the reason I take it). My doctor wanted me to go onto Morphine instead but that just makes me projectile vomit and is even more addictive.

Hello,i can't answer about tablets but,did your doctor not say that certain exercise could possibly help?it might sound far-fetched,i started certain exercises by a physio therapist and they certainly help me.I have scoliosis-a curved spine.Good luck anyway.

I have seen a marked increase in dependancy of late -
A reluctance to prescribe it of late also x

Just like to say, i took a tramadol last night before bed, only woke once, and felt happy this morning for a while,and not too much pain.
