So I got asked today which was the best dslr camera for beginners if no budget was set. Well then they quickly clarified under $1000 for body only. I shared with them that creates a big gap.

I ended up recommending the Nikon D7300. What would you have said?

Moderator's note:
Posts from new members, clearly outside of the UK, early in the morning have a nasty habit of being the first of two-part spam. (i.e. they get quickly followed by a 'helpful' link, from another new member, who just happens to know of something suitable).

That's particularly so when
(a) the new member uses a forename+surname username ;
(b) when they post in 'Business & Finance' (irrespective of the content of their post) ; and
(c) a quick look at their profile shows that they've signed up here using an email address which Gravatar automatically links to a 'business picture' avatar.

So this thread is regarded as highly suspect. If a 'helpful' link is posted by another new member I'll simply delete it.

However, if it's a genuine post, I'd regard the D7300 as too complex for beginners. The D3300 would be a better choice (and also leave the buyer with more money to put towards some decent lenses).
Nice one chris. I looked at it too. I was waiting for an ad!
Say cheese !
Gorgozola
Gorgonzola even, duh!
I think the fact that it's in B&F (where most spammers seem to land) and the poster already has an avatar attracts the attentions of the mods too. If you google your question, Eve, you'll find this was asked in November on someone's blog page. Some of the content there may help but you may be better starting by reading Which magazine or a specialist camera mag rather relying on blogs which may or may not be independent and reliable

Thank you for such a friendly answer guys. *rolling eyes :D

@Buenchico

I've read a lot of reviews on this book, and some people say that the D3200 is still a decent camera compared to the D3300? The detailed menu screens eat up a lot of power.When it is on, the battery drains faster. There are options to use more simplified screens.
can someone confirm that?
Hope your eyes are okay Eve.
Some answers here when JamesF asked the same question - looks like 7 months ago. It has been asked elswhere too.
