If the earth continues to warm, for whatever reason, could mankind prove Eliot wrong? Will we eventually see wars for natural resources and living space be the end of us all?

Wars for resources have been going on for ages, and will continue.

Places will become uninhabitable e.g the horn of Africa (which virtually is already), so a population that's increasing anyway will be squeezed into smaller areas.
It is estimated that if Excel stopped working world wide it would effectively be Armageddon.

Even the most hostile of places on the earth are inhabited by someone so stop the exaggerations.

As for the planet, it will survive it is the human race that wont and thats probably just part of the progression of the planet.

If we want to sort things out the massive population, now estimated at 8Bn needs addressing. That is what is causing the biggest issues not oil.
Don't shoot the messenger youngmaf - places will become uninhabitable if the planet warms.

There might be a few folks scattered across the Sahara and various other deserts but if these places get bigger, people will move away from them to find more hospitable climes.
YMB; There are places which are uninhabited because of the local climate, e.g. Antarctica, some deserts and mountain regions.
The world's population is already far too high, and that's why there is already competition for food, water, and other resources, as well as overuse of unsustainable resources such as fossil fuels, heavy metals etc., as well as rapid spread of diseases.
