Dankeschn, bitteschn, wiedersehen, noch ein Bier, kommen Sie hier, ein Grosse, ein Kleine, ein nichts versteht... I wish I could Sprechen Sie Deutsch! Given that this is a song about wanting to be able to speak German, it's all the more enjoyable by being performed by Munich band Freiwillige Selbskontrolle (loosely, voluntary self-censorship). It reached that all-important number 33 spot in Peelie's 1986 Festive 50 and I have it on tape. This version's all the better for them even pronouncing 'wiedershen' with a W rather than a more natural (remember FSK are German!) V. Great song!

Excellent Lodekka, It is indeed a great song
Here is the mentioned list http://www.rocklist.net/p1986.htm
About" I wish I could sprechen sie deutsch" I purchased a 45rpm while in Germany with the Canadian Air Force in 1961. I think it was sung by a GI. It went like this: I came in the deutschland and what did I find I couldn't find a word to say, not speaking the language I was so inclined to put a few words in my head. Ah! you'll soon pick it up all my buddies would say, but here is the total I've picked-up to day. Dankeschn, bitteschn, wiedersehen etc.etc. Now wouls anybody know about this version?
