wonder how much water is wasted trying to turn on and find the right temperature of the shower in a hotel room - took me about ten minutes this morning as the controls were just two square blocks with no way of knowing which was the on off and which was the temperature - it was very powerful so you had to get under it and get boiled before you could try to turn it down. A simple on/off and hot/cold sticker would make a big difference.

I know exactly what you mean. I often have trouble with the controls on showers in hotels. So fancy even they don't know what they're doing!
i have my mixer set to the perfect temperature and then i just turn it on i know you are on about a hotel but that is what i do at home and then when i wash my body i turn the shower off to lather up then i put it back on to rinse this must save at least two liters of water
‘ it was very powerful so you had to get under it and get boiled’

What’s wrong with sticking your hand under it until it feels right?
roadman, if you really want to save water and energy, take a bowl of hot soapy water in to the shower, wash yourself all over with that and turn the shower on just to wash your hair and rinse off.
i have a theory that if you have to question if the water is ok then it probably is so just jump under it then jump out if it is not ok
barry1010 sometimes i run a very shallow bath and i wash in there and then pop in the shower for a swill i do think this saves a lot of water because it is a very shallow bath then a very quick shower instead of a full bath or long shower
Much the same as my bowl suggestion then, roadman.
I must say I don't get under hotel showers until I've stuck my hand in first to check the temperature. My own at home is set to a regular temperature.
It’s the same with microwaves..not that I shower in a microwave you understand. It’s the controls which are different for every single one, drives me bonkers when we’re staying self catering somewhere, or with one of the children.
Sometimes you have to be under the shower to adjust the temperature. I don't know which is worst, too hot or too cold.
Roadman I tried that, turning shower off while I soaped up, but when I pressed the button for it to start again the water was freezing and I had to "leap" out until it heated up again. So I used more water rather than saved some:-(
Ladybird, that has happened to me. In shower turn off water, lather up, then turn back on only to scream as freezing cold water shoots out!!

The problem is you had to reach under the water to get to the controls so if you turn it on you get either boiled or frozen before you know which it is going to be and then again trying to reach the knobs to turn it up or down. Just a simple hot/cold arrow would help so you could turn it down but not right down before turning it on. Can't wait for the request for a review!
You could use a dab of paint to mark your favourite control positions.
