It was an answer in a crossword I just finished & it made me think, are they still bowled much in today's cricket? I remember Wasim Akram was a great exponent.
I don't get to see cricket live anymore - though I watched the T20 final at the weekend & that seemed to be entirely fast, spin bowling.

Many batsmen now stand well outside the line of the stumps, making the Yorker less effective. However, in limited overs cricket, bowling a ball of a Yorker length outside the line of the stumps is now a useful tactic, as it can result in a dot ball. Such a delivery has become known as a 'wide Yorker':
