Why Do Most People Like Hot Weather?

Now we’re in winter I am in my element, I love the colder weather, reason being is I find hot humid weather uncomfortable, I have lower energy, less motivation to do things, etc, complete opposite in the winter. I find it cosier in winter, you can wrap up in bed nicely. I can’t understand why most other people love it when it’s 25-30*C outside. They immediately want to go sitting baking in it. To me that sounds like hell on earth. Do people who love hot weather not experience that same uncomfortable feeling that I get? My mum and grandmother are both like myself in that respect.

Because being cold is uncomfortable and more dangerous than being hot. It is thus miserable and tends to occur when days are depressingly short and dark. Comparing to hot weather, of course it can get too hot too. But one can get into shade. In the winter there is no other sunshine to get into.

Old geezer- yeah but that’s only if you’re stood out directly in the cold. If you’re inside it’s not that bad

Old geezer- we only have the heating on for a few hours a day and it’s perfectly comfortable inside. Way more comfortable than if it was 30 odd degrees and humid

I'm with you Brian, I hate the hot and humid weather, much prefer it when it's cool. I enjoy this time of year.

When it's cold it can be slippery underfoot. Falling and breaking a bone is a rare occurrence in good weather.

I agree Brian. Can't bear the hot humid weather we get in this country. Love a frosty morning when everything looks so pretty and if it's snowing, oh boy, what can be better?

Mind you skiing high up in the snowy Alps in the sunshine is a sight to behold;-)

I agree ladybirder, I love a cold, frosty morning when you can see your breath, but that doesn't happen much nowadays. Winters seem to be getting milder.

America gets better winters than us, well at least in states like Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, etc. Very cold

Yes, I much prefer colder weather and get very uncomfortable even over 23C. (My two best holidays were in Siberia in Winter, where the temperature got down to minus 40C).

I have great empathy with hedgehogs and other animals who hibernate. During the summer I have plenty of energy but the winter months my energy, interest and enthusiasm is dulled and I can't wait for spring.

I remember spending 1 winter in new Zealand on a farm, no heating!!!
They said heating comes on when its cold!!! It was about 10c I had to wear 3 layers while I wuz there!!!
