Best I can find is:
On 1 January 1915, The Times newspaper published details of a letter in which an anonymous major of the Royal Army Medical Corps told of a match that had taken place between soldiers on Christmas Day. According to most sources, there was no score, as there were no goals. It was simply a 'kick-about'.
A score of 3-2 in favour of the Germans is sometimes quoted but that simply owes its origins to a fictionalised account of the game by Robert Graves. (I suspect that's what the quiz setter is looking for though!)
