Anyone…Barry? …who has one of these, how do you know how long to cook something using both convection and microwave at the same time?
I’ve just done two large jacket potatoes, first microwaving them, then convection cooking them (wasn’t brave enough to combination cook them). The instruction book doesn’t mention anything about timings.
Also, I used the metal grill thing to put them on, as advised in the book, for both functions, which really surprised me as I thought metal things couldn’t be used in microwaves. It didn’t blow up :)

I have one, Vagus. Mine is a Neff and has a very comprehensive instruction book, which gives details of all the digital programmes.
The trick is to know the weights of things you are cooking so that you can input that. The oven will work out all the timings needed.
Having sent back the air fryer I'm thinking of buying a microwave/oven combo with a rotisserie so would be interested in any recommendations.
I can’t really help because I mainly use the pre-set auto functions for that sort of thing, and of course ovens have different power ratings so take different times to cook.
You need a recipe/instruction book specifically for combo microwaves...lots of basic advice/how to etc. Mine came from (cheapo bookstore) The Works. There's a selection on Amazon.
Without proper guidance, it's a case of "suck it and see"!

Ok, thanks Tilly and Barry, looks like it’ll be trial and error. Possibly the only thing I’d need or want to cook like this is jacket potatoes.
The instruction book is a bit lacking in some explanations, just tells which buttons and knobs to press and turn to get the function you want but no timings.
Meag, our new one is a Kenwood one. It’s a fair bit bigger than our previous very old and very basic one (which was just a microwave) and is 900w rather than the 800w. It doesn’t have a rotisserie though. Apart from the instruction book being a bit lacking, I’m really pleased with it and only discovered after we bought it that it also has an air fryer function!
I now only use the ‘proper’ oven for my big black batch cooking pot.
Thanks people :)

Thanks ginge, you weren’t there when I started my reply.
Will have a look online and in The Works.
Stab an 8 oz potato with a fork or the tip of a knife, rub the skin with some oil, place on the metal tray in the microwave. Choose combination, set the convection to 220 and the microwave to simmer and set off for 20 mins.
